A Quick Recap from this episode

For this episode, I wanted to share some insights and some behind-the-scenes knowledge on how to get clients without social media. Obviously I recommend social media for growing your business because it’s a low barrier of entry, but if you really don’t want to use social media, there are plenty of other ways to gain clients, so I’m going to share several options with you!

I know a lot of coaches are hesitant or resistant to trying to use social media, but I do think it’s one of the easiest and least expensive ways to market your business and gain clients. However, I also know that if I were to pull back completely from social media, I could still gain clients because I know of other ways to do that.

So here is my list of different ways you can find clients without constantly posting on social media:

1. Passive social media content

Yes, you’d still have to be on social media for this one, but it works if you’ve been on social media in the past and are now looking to pull back from it. When you have evergreen content available, it’s still relevant down the road so people will still see it and want to chat with you or work with you.

2. Passive social media relationship building

You’d also still technically need to be on social media for this one, but not with a focus on posting content. We talk a lot in the Wealthy Coach Blueprint about helping you connect with potential clients. By getting immersed in communities, you can start to really build relationships. This could be through something like a Facebook group, for example.

3. A podcast

Podcasting is really great because of the SEO benefits. If someone goes to Google or Spotify and types in something like money coach, they’re more than likely going to find this podcast at some point. It’s also great because you may get listeners who aren’t ready to invest right now, but love the podcast so they really stick with you until the time comes when they are ready to invest.

4. A blog

Very similar to podcasting, in that it provides great SEO benefits. You could even double up the two if you just turn your podcast episodes into blog-style content (like this one!) You could also take this a step further and use Pinterest or a social media platform to drive traffic to the blog, but either way the SEO will drive traffic to you naturally.

5. Run ads

Ads are amazing if you get them set up correctly and find the right formula for it. If I were to use this option, I’d more than likely hire someone who specializes in ads to make sure that it’s optimized correctly. It is an investment, so it’s a higher barrier to entry, but they can be great if done correctly.

6. Joint ventures / JV Webinars

These are webinars or challenges that you’d run with other influential educators, coaches, or just people that would not truly have a very similar audience to yours. They’d promote it to their audience, which drives traffic you didn’t originally have in the door, but then your collaborator usually gets a kickback off the sales that are made. It’s a great low barrier to entry that gets you in front of a new audience.

7. PR (Public Relations)

This can be done in a lot of different ways. You can pitch yourself to be featured in media/publications, get interviewed on podcasts, write or become a guest contributor for a publication, etc. The main goal here is that the traffic seeing that particular publication is being driven back to you and your offer.

8. Client referrals

This obviously requires you to have been working with people for a little while, but if you’ve somewhat established your business already, this can be great. Your clients already know and love you and know the results they get, so it’s easy for them to decide if they know someone that’s a good fit to work with you and then they’re able to sing your praises to the person they’re referring to you. You’d usually give your clients some kind of kickback for each referral.

9. Strategic partnerships

This is similar to joint ventures in the sense that you’re partnering up with someone else, but it doesn’t necessarily have to mean money out of your pocket. Think about people in related fields that your clients may be likely to work with (financial advisors, investment brokers, etc.) and have a conversation about a referral system with them. You could give them kickbacks or simply have an agreement that you’ll each refer clients to the other.

10. Public speaking

This one isn’t for everyone, and can take some time to really lean into and find opportunities for. The main thing to think about is “where are my ideal clients going to be?” and “how can I get in front of that audience?” Then pitch yourself to spaces where you know your clients will show up.

11. On-the-ground networking

Good old-fashioned on the ground networking…I think sometimes we forget that this one exists. Never disregard the power of an in-person conversation. Go to events and places where you know your ideal client will be and show off your expertise. When people ask about you, make sure to mention that you’re a money coach and how you help your clients. The right people will be intrigued and want to work with you.

So that’s my list, but I know it can sound like a lot and give you analysis paralysis, so I want to challenge you to pick ONE thing off this list and try it for 90 days. In those 90 days, tweak it if you have to, but don’t quit and don’t change to something else. Fully commit to it for 90 days, and then if it isn’t working or isn’t the right fit try something else.

So that’s it! I think social media is amazing for growing your business, but if you’ve decided it isn’t for you, this was a really great list for you to start with to keep gaining clients without having to show up on social media!
